Direct Support Professional

Full Time

The purpose of this position includes:

Participant Empowerment  

  • The Direct Support Professional enhances the ability of the participant to lead a self‐determining life by providing the support and information necessary to build self-esteem and assertiveness and to make decisions.

Communication  

  • The Direct Support Professional should be knowledgeable about the range of effective communication strategies and skills are necessary to establish a collaborative relationship with the participant.

Community Living Skills & Supports

  • The Direct Support Professional has the ability to match specific supports and interventions to the unique needs of individual participants and recognizes the importance of friends, family and community relationships.

Advocacy  

  • The Direct Support Professional should be knowledgeable about the diverse challenges facing participants (e.g., human rights, legal, administrative and financial) and should be able to identify and use effective advocacy strategies to overcome such challenges and barriers.

Crisis Prevention and Intervention  

  • The Direct Support Professional should be knowledgeable about crisis prevention, intervention and resolution techniques and should match such techniques to particular circumstances and individuals.

Building and Maintaining Friendships and Relationships  

  • Support the participant in the development of friendships and other relationships.
  • Provides Person-Centered Supports.

Supporting Health and Wellness  

  • Promotes the health and wellness of all.

Employment Specialist

Full Time

The purpose of this position includes:

Discovery and Career Planning  

  • The job coach demonstrates skills in employment development. Discovery process, community- based assessment, Person-Centered Planning, employment planning (including goals, transferable skills, support strategies), portfolio development.

Marketing and Job Development 

  • The job coach engages in; Community building (e.g., community mapping, networking), employer leadership, job development (e.g. researching, approaching employers, using portfolios, job carving, negotiating hours and wages), writing employment proposals, resources for employers (e.g., tax incentives).

Workplace and Job Analysis  

  • Finding potential work tasks, general info about the workplace, analyzing specific jobs.

 Job Coaching

  • Task Design and Training   Task design and accommodations (e.g. job aids, assistive and information technology), task analysis, workers, and support team to develop and implement a plan and strategies for fading supports.
  • Support Strategies   Behavioral supports at work, structure, and visual supports.
  • Natural Supports   Identifying and developing natural supports, teaching coworkers to train and support individuals, ongoing relationships with employers (e.g.  communications, negotiating job enhancements.

Job Coaches are to provide documentation of incidences, health, and safety practices, and program information in adherence with company policies, practices, and local, state, federal, and CARF standards.

Community Housing Coordinator

Fulltime

Under the direction of the Executive Director, it is the overall responsibility of the Community Housing Coordinator  to supervise and oversee the direct services provided to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This position has many roles; the tasks that a supervisor may be asked to do include a broad range of diverse and often complex activities. These roles range from, hiring, training and supervising staff, program planning and evaluation, advocacy, working with families, and working with community members, direct support of persons served, facilitating medical appointments, and being an active participant within a fast-paced, dynamic leadership team.
